The Cleanup Assist desktop app collects nothing and sends nothing. It has no network code in it at all — no analytics, no crash reporting, no update checks, no accounts. Everything it reads about your disk stays on your machine.
This website is a different matter, and does use analytics. It sets no cookies, but it does measure page visits, and its host keeps standard server logs. The web fonts are served by Google, which means Google sees your IP address when the page loads. That's the whole list — and none of it touches the app.
This policy is published by Richard Gaskin (RGaskinLtd), who develops Cleanup Assist. It covers the Cleanup Assist desktop application and this website. It does not cover third-party services you may reach from here, each of which is named below with a link to its own policy.
Cleanup Assist is a local disk analyzer. To do its job it reads information from your computer, and none of it is transmitted anywhere.
It is held in memory while the app is running, shown to you, and discarded when you close the app. Cleanup Assist has no servers, no database, and no network requests of any kind. Scan results are not written to disk, not uploaded, and not shared with anyone — including the developer.
The app changes files only when you explicitly tell it to. When you move a folder to another drive, that operation happens entirely on your own machine.
The site is static and sets no cookies, but — unlike the app — it does carry analytics, so that visitor numbers can be measured. Three third parties are involved in delivering the page to you:
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Vercel | Standard server logs: IP address, browser user agent, requested page, timestamp | Hosts the site; logs are an unavoidable part of serving a page and are used for security and reliability |
| Vercel Analytics | Which page was viewed, the referring page, and coarse details such as country, browser and device type. It is cookieless and does not build a profile of you or follow you to other sites. | Shows how many people visit and which pages they read |
| Google Fonts | Your IP address and browser user agent when the page requests its fonts | Serves the typefaces this page uses |
See the Vercel privacy policy and Google's privacy policy for how those companies handle that data.
Cleanup Assist is a general-purpose system utility and is not directed at children. No personal information is knowingly collected from anyone, of any age.
Because neither the app nor this site collects personal data that identifies you, there is no account to access, correct or delete, and no data to export. The only records that exist are the server logs and the aggregate visit statistics described above, both held by the host. Neither is tied to an identifiable person.
If you are in the UK or EU and believe data relating to you has been handled improperly, you may contact the developer using the details below, and you have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Past versions are visible in the page's commit history, so you can see exactly what changed and when.
Questions about this policy can be raised as an issue on the GitHub repository.
